Music and Movies on the Lawn

Baton Rouge Gallery, Baton Rouge

The 2025-26 season of Baton Rouge Gallery's popular film series, Movies & Music on the Lawn, kicks off on Saturday, September 20! With four different pairings of local sound and silent cinema, they offer some truly unique chances to see Louisiana-based musicians take on iconic films. The musicians enlisted compose and perform never-before-heard scores for the films while the film is projected onto a huge inflatable outdoor screen on the lawn.

Best of all, thanks to Movies & Music on the Lawn’s sponsors, the entire season will be open FREE TO ALL, removing the cost barrier, and allowing all residents of Baton Rouge to enjoy the exceptional talents of local musicians during these unique one-night-only events.

Delfeayo Marsalis & The Uptown Jazz Orchestra @ Snug Harbor

GRAMMY award-winning trombonist Delfeayo Marsalis formed the Uptown Jazz Orchestra (UJO) in 2008. Featuring up to 18 accomplished musicians at any given concert, the Uptown Jazz Orchestra sets the standard for celebrating jazz.

​​Delfeayo is one of the top composers and producers in Jazz. Known for his “technical excellence, inventive mind and frequent touches of humor…” (Los Angeles Times), he is “…one of the most imaginative and musical of his generation.” (San Francisco Examiner). Delfeayo has produced over 100 recordings for artists including Harry Connick Jr, Spike Lee, Terence Blanchard, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, and his father and brothers, dubbed "America's First Family of Jazz" by the National Endowment for the Arts in 2000.

Shows at 7:30pm & 9:30pm Doors at 7:00pm & 9:00pm

Restaurant is Open 5pm - 10pm for dinner before or after your showtime:

In 2000, Grammy award-winning trombonist and NEA Jazz Master, Delfeayo Marsalis formed the Uptown Music Theatre (UMT), a non-profit organization that empowers youth through educational programming and musical theater training. In 2008, Marsalis formed its sister organization, the Uptown Jazz Orchestra (UJO). The two organizations enjoy a symbiotic relationship – UJO musicians offer a rich talent pool from which to draw instructors and UMT musicians are likewise often guest performers for the UJO. Featuring up to 18 accomplished musicians at any given concert, the Uptown Jazz Orchestra sets the standard for celebrating jazz.

Tonight, the band is led by master trombonist Terrance Taplin.

General Admission Information: This concert is General Admission, meaning all seating is first come, first served. Once all seats are taken, the venue will be standing room only.

For ticketed concerts, all tables are sold in advance to ensure reserved seating. Please note that General Admission tickets do not guarantee a seat and allow for standing room access only once seating capacity is reached.

We recommend arriving early for the best seating availability.
